Is it “stopped” or “stomped”? Who wrote the song? On the 30thAnniversary of the release of Hangin’ Tough, we’re still learning about one of the BH anthems of all times.

On the last TBT, the New Kids share a picture with lyrics from Hagin’ Tough and Donnie quickly joined the conversation on Twitter by adding some facts that some of us may not know.

Is it “stopped” or “stomped”?

You know the lyrics; the second verse goes, “Everybody’s always talkin’ ’bout who’s on top; Don’t cross our path ’cause you’re gonna get …”

Donnie said, “It’s actually ‘stopped’, but we tend to say ‘stomped’ in concert. (We often, intentionally, sing incorrect lyrics on stage for fun).”

Who Wrote Hangin’ Tough?

If we take a look at the credits of the song, we’ll read “Maurice Starr”; however, as Donnie mentions, “we wrote most of the lyrics to this particular song (even though we weren’t ever credited).”
